Recently, I was a Research Lead Machine Learning Engineer within GNOMON INFORMATICS SA located in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Main Task:

  • To create a conversational AI chatbot using state of the art Machine Learning technologies.

  • NLP, chatbot, Conversational AI, Sentiment Analysis, Deep Learning, RASA, RASA X

In the near past, I was a Senior R&D Scientific Researcher within DataScouting located in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Main Task:

  •  Co-leading Research Design of Algorithms referred to problems in the area of Machine Learning (including Deep Learning), Computer Vision, Image Processing & Analysis and Statistical Modelling & Analysis.

Specific problems:

  • Assisting in the Design of Face Detection & Recognition Algorithms,
  • Design and Develop Algorithms to perform Change (Anomaly) detection in ROIs using video/images as inputs, and
  • Assisting in Designing OCR algorithms.

Moreover, I was a Research & Development Task Leader with the Multimedia Knowledge and Social Media Analytics Laboratory (MKLAB) at the Information Technologies Institute (ITI) at CERTH research center, working for the CONNEXIONs, EU H2020 project, and REA, ΕΣΠΑ project.

CONNEXIONs is related to Deep Learning Techniques for Face Detection and Recognition, Activity Recognition and Abnormal Activity Detection, and Object Recognition using wearable cameras, IoT, drones and static cameras.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are currently more than 1 billion people worldwide (about one in seven) who have some form of disability. The goal of the REA‘s project is to develop an innovative interconnected virtual agent with enhanced interactive and knowledge skills through natural and multimodal human and technology interaction. Assisted living technologies combined with intelligent interfaces and advanced dialogue systems can provide supportive technologies in homes and clinics, significantly improving the quality of life of individuals.

Brief CV:


   I was born in Ioannina, Greece, in 1985. I was admitted at the Computer Science Department of the University of Ioannina in 2003. I received my B.Sc. diploma in Computer Science in 2008 with degree 7.32/10 “Very Good”. That year I became a M.Sc. student at the same institution from where I graduated in October 2010, with degree 9.90/10 “Excellent” and specialization in “Technologies and Applications“. In September 2015, I obtained my Ph.D. diploma in “Signal and Image Processing” with several applications widely in the field of Neuroscience, following-up several patients with neurodegenerative (and not) brain disorders/diseases/syndromes at the University of Strasbourg, in France, in collaboration with most of the university hospitals in the wider area of Strasbourg (e.g. Hôpital civil , Hôpital de Hautepierre), producing innovative research that allowed us to highlight pioneering walkways, that neurologists may not be able to imagine earlier, moving many steps forward and lead the latest neuroscience’s technologies to conquer new tempting future goals.
